Holiday Fitness Tip, Holiday Shape up

Holiday Fitness Tip, Holiday Shape up

During the holiday season it is doubly important to stay on your exercise and dietary program.
The key is to make the time to do your workout. One option is you have a problem getting to the gym on a regular basis is to do your work out in the morning before work. Waiting to do your work out later in the day, all matter of things can happen that will cause you not to be able to workout.
The optimal time for a work out is about 45 minutes, beyond that most people tend to waist time. It is best to keep the workout quick and fun.
I recommend doing weight baring exercise every other day and aerobic activity almost ever day. The key to developing the program is to start up slow and build up slowly to the above mentioned info. Remember before starting any program you should consult with your doctor especially if you have a medical history or illness.

Tennis Ball Machines, Why I like them.

Hitting with a ball machine can really help to improve your game. I purchased the Tennis Tutor in Atlanta GA, because of capabilities and the cost. The advantage of hitting off a ball machine is that you can get consistant shots to hit everytime, backhand or forehands. The one downside with the lower cost machines is that they don't do a good job on overheads or return of serve, but if you willing to pay a little more you can go these machines to do a pretty good job of that as well. This why alot of the the tennis academeis use them. The other obvious advantage that if you don't have someone to hit with you can still hit and work on your game. I use my machine in my tennis instruction classes, and my students really enjoy it. Other top manufactures are Jugs and Penn. I really love my machine alot, just wish I had bought it earlier. http://www.fitnesswithjeff.com

Baseball, Softball strength and conditioning training

Baseball Strength Training and Softball Strength Training, Baseball Training and Softball Training
There are several goals for baseball strength training and softball strength training. You don’t want to train like a football player, so you don’t want to do high weights with low numbers of repetitions. For baseball and softball players you want to keep quickness and speed in order to be a well rounded player.
For baseball training and softball training you want a larger amount of repetitions, usually between 12 and 18. This especially goes for the youth player who is 9 to 16 years of age. This is a critically important time with young people and their physical development.
Flexibility is very important to avoid injury, which is why I start out with stretching in my baseball strength training sessions. The stretching in my sessions lasts about 5-10 minutes. Next I would go into doing core work to strengthen the abdominal muscles. I start with regular sit-ups for 15 reps, followed by 40 reps of bicycles, then side crunches for another 40 reps. This is followed by alternating leg lifts for 30 reps, then back to side crunches on the opposite side from the first set. From there we go into doing shoulder stretches, doing shoulder circles, front wise for 20 reps, reversing the motion for 20 reps.
I’m a big believer in working the shoulders pretty hard for baseball strength training, obviously because of the amount of throwing that is done in the game. The dominant muscle group is the deltoids, which is the muscle on the top of the shoulder, which helps to keep the whole arm in alignment.
I like to start off with dumbbell shoulder front raises. From there I do such exercises as lunges with bicep curls, Next I would do a set of reverse triceps extensions, and a set of fairly light weight squats. I do 20 reps of squats with say 10 pound dumbbells. Then after completing the first set, you drop the weight and do 15 to 20 reps with just your body weight

Apples for fitness for personal training

APPLES REALLY ARE GOOD FOR YOU I’ve been preaching the gospel of the apple to my clients at Fitness with Jeff for years.
Eating fresh apples is always good for you, but to get the full nutritional benefits associated with eating apples you should eat at least one fresh apple every day. The average U.S. consumer eats about 19 pounds of fresh apples a year — about one apple per week.
WHOLE-BODY HEALTH BENEFITSLower blood cholesterol, improved bowel function, reduced risk of stroke, prostate cancer, type II diabetes and asthma. The disease-fighting profile of apples provides a multitude of health benefits, including a potential decreased risk of cancer and heart disease. Several recent studies suggest apples may provide a "whole-body" health benefit.
A number of components in apples, most notably fiber and phytonutrients have been found in studies to lower blood cholesterol and improve bowel function, and may be associated with a reduced risk of ischemic heart disease, stroke, prostate cancer, type II diabetes and asthma. Preliminary research from Finland indicates diets with the highest intake of apple phytonutrients were associated with a 46 percent reduction in the incidence of lung cancer. Findings indicate that two apples a day or 12 ounces of 100% apple juice reduced the damaging effects of the “bad” LDL cholesterol. The moral of the story: an apple a day keeps the doctor away.
